Dharmaraja Scouts create history with a Guinness World Record



The 1st Kandy Dharmaraja Scout Group marked the Centenary of Scouting, with a setting-up of a Guinness World Record by creating the world's largest neckerchief, measuring 53.7m x 37.1 m (176 ft 2.4 inches x 125 ft 8.4 inches x 121 ft 8.4 inches) and the world's largest woggle, measuring 1.03m (3 ft 4.55 inches) in diameter and 1m (3 ft 3.37 inches) in height. This record was measured at the Dharmaraja College, Kandy in February 2014 by the official record adjudicators authorized to verify the authenticity of the setting and breaking of records employed by the Organisation of Guinness World Records.

In addition to the World Record, 1st Kandy Scouts were awarded the Sri Lanka's 'Best Scout Group Award', consecutively won by them for three years from 2009 to 2011, at the Annual Awards Ceremony organised by the Sri Lanka Scout Association, recently at the Royal College, Colombo.
